Charles Manson seeks unsuccessfully to form a
corporation with six other Los Angeles County Jail
inmates to be known as The Family of Infinate Soul,
Inc. to fight for his freedom. A judge abided Manson’s
rambling discourses on law and philosophy for 40
minutes, dealing patiently and politely with legal
moves the like of which he admitted he had never
seen before.
The body of Dr. Martin Luther King is removed from Southview Cemetery and
reinterred under two arching pecan trees next to the church where he used to
preach in Atlanta. The removal was accomplished so quietly that few Atlantans
realized the tomb was now resting fewer than a hundred feet away from Auburn
Ave, near Ebenezer Baptist Church, where Dr. King was co-pastor with his
father.
President Nixon flies to Northampton, Mass for a brief dinner with his family to
celebrate his 57
th
birthday. About 200 antiwar demonstrators chanted outside the
apartment building, where daughter Julie and husband David live.

Sam Riddle
forms the
Sam Riddle Organization to be known as SRO for
coordinating five separate companies headed by Riddle.
The divisions include concert promotions, television
appearances, record production, publishing and artist
management. Riddle is host of “Get It Together” on ABC-TV
and still syndicates “Boss City” on TV. He’s still heard on
93/KHJ.
David Sarnoff (78), the man who put radio into the American
home, resigns as chairman of RCA Corp. because of ill health.
More radio - Host Bob Grant completes the final Two-way talkshow over KLAC,
Los Angeles, ending the station’s run as an aggressive “in-your-face” talk format.
The station has been transitioning into a MOR music format for the past few
months. Will Grant stay in Los Angeles?
