Israeli troops pull out of the Gaza Strip after a 48-hour ground incursion where 57 were killed. 

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad – the president of Iran pays a trip to Iraq and outlines his nation’s plans to consolidate economic ties with Iraq and decries the U.S. military presence there.

A week dollar is blamed for record oil prices – now up to $103 a barrel. When adjusted for inflation - It’s the highest price for oil in that in April 1980 – the price was $38. 

Four adults and two children are found slain in a home in Memphis. Three other children were badly wounded in an attack.

Technology News – March 1, 2008

Apple Inc., clamping criticism, now says the iPhone will soon worth with corporate e-mail services and run software applications made by outside developers. “The second stage of the iPhone kicks in because of this” said CEO Steve Jobs.

The Pentagon has banned Google’s digital mapping vehicles from al military installations after detailed photos of Ft. Sam Houston in San Antonio appeared on Google Maps.

No more regular search engine -  Ask.com says it will now focus on a narrower market – married women looking for help managing their lives. As a result, they will lay-off about 40 employees.

 Researchers have discovered a rare Helen Keller photo, taken when she was 8, holding the hand of her teacher Anne Sullivan. The pic was taken back in 1888 and was tucked inside a family album.

Microsoft says it will cut the price of some versions of Windows Vista. At the launch, Microsoft was widely criticized for offering too may versions of the operating system – including Home Basic.

Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails releases a 36-song instrumental collection called “Ghosts I-IV,” direct to the Internet at www.nin.com. Retail release is set for April 8.

Lou Pearlman, known for launching the Backstreet Boys and “n Sync, pleads guilty to a fraud that used fake accountants, fake bank accounts and a dead man’s signature to swindle banks and investors out of more than $300 million.

Keith Richards is the new face of Louis Vuitton – the French maker of luxury handbags and luggage.

Robert Plant has nixed an offer of 100 million pounds ($200 million) for Led Zeppelin to tour saying he plans to leave the band’s November reunion in London as the final word on its legacy.

Another pean to Obama – will.l.am – the Black Eyed Peas frontman releases a star-studded music video in a tribute to the presidential candidate. On it – Jessica Alba, Ryan Phillippe, Kerry Washington and George Lopez. Name of the video – “We Are The Ones.’
