Former Yugoslav President Slobodan Milosevic is found dead in his prison cell. He was facing trial on genocide and war crimes for his role in the nationalist Balkan wars during the 1990’s. He had been on trial since 2002.

The U.S. trade deficit wells to a record $68.5 billion in January.

Al Jazeera shows tape of two Canadian and a British hostage – captured four months ago during a peace mission to Iraq. The hostages are Briton Norman Loney and Harmeet Sooden and James Looney from Canada.

Oil prices fall to $60 a barrel after OPEC’s president said the group would keep output intact and on the news that the U.S. has plenty of supply. 

Enron ScandalTtrial – Andrew Fastow – the company’s ex-finance chief, details how he helped inflate the company’s profit and hide losses – through the blessing of his then-boss – Jeff Skilling.

McClatchy Co says it would unload 12 Knight Ridder papers to help finance the purchase of that chain of newspapers. McClatchy, now the No. 8 newspaper chain, will get 32 daily papers and their websites and a string of other publications and Knight Ridder’s one-third stake in online employment site CareerBuilder.com.

Apple’s ITunes music store begins offering downloads of Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart and “The Colbert Report.” You can now pay by their new Multi-Pass – buy a month’s worth of shows for $9.99 – A lot less than the la carte price of $1.99 per show.
