A missile from a CIA surveillance aircraft over Yemen kills six suspected Al Qaeda operatives. The vehicle was unmanned.

Music news – November 1, 2002

Alan Jackson takes home his second entertainer-of-the-ear award and four other honors at the annual Country Music Assn. Awards. He was also named male vocalist of the year, won album of the year for “Drive,” and song and single of the year for “Where Were You (When the World Stopped Turning)”.

Sharon Osbourne says she’s calling it quits after this season of MTV’s top-rated “The Osbournes. … “The cameras are here all the time, so it’s a little invasive now. When you’re sick, you know, you want to be on your own.” Ms. Osbourne has colon cancer.

 Kurt Cobain’s diaries are published in a new book called “Journals,” which duplicates 274 pages of his personal writings from the late 1980’s through 1994. The writings contain some candid prose such as – “I made about 5 million dollars last year… Ill be able to sell my untalented, very ungenious ass for years based on my cult status.”

CBS sues ABC from airing a “Survivor” knockoff show called “I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here.”

Angie Martinez, who was to join original judges Paula Abdul, Simon Crowell and Eandy Jackson for “American Idol” – quits after the first auditions. “It became too uncomfortable for me to tell someone else to give up on their dream,” said the rapper/DJ.
