NATO declares an end to its air war against Yugoslavia and orders thousands of alliance troops to movie into Kosovo to restore order after Yugoslav President Slobodan Milosevic’s forces begin to withdraw from the ruined province.
Hundreds of camouflage NATO military vehicles stream into Kosovo after dawn in the first phase of the Western alliance’s peacekeeping effort in the war-battered Serbian province.
Peace comes to Kosovo as NATO tanks and armored vehicles inch across the border to clear and secure the two-lane road feeding to the provincial capital, Pristina. Later - sniper fire leaves 2 German journalists dead.
SLA Figure Kathleen Soliah - a fugitive since 1975 is arrested. Living under the name Sara Jane Olson, she was married to a physician with whom she had three children. She allegedly tried to bomb two Los Angeles police cars in 1975.
A House panel says that while much of the federal government has made significant progress in preparing for the year 2000 computer problem, many key agencies lag behind.

Business News – June 10, 1999
NBC and AT&T forge a new partnership. Under an agreement, AT&T now the nation’s second-largest cable operator, will pay NBC an undisclosed extra fee for Olympics programming that will run on the network’s two news channels, MSNBC and CNBC. NBC plans to air some 250 hours of live programming on the two cable channels during each of the next five Olympics, beginning next year.
A new study by U.S. Public Interest Research Group says that SUV owners cost owners an extra $13.6 billion at the gas pump last year while causing a significant increase in air pollution. SUV’s average about 20mpg and the group calls for an increase in the mileage standard to 42pmg by 2010.
Technology News – June 10, 1999
Sun Microsystems announces an agreement with 3Com to allow programs written in Sun’s Java language to be used on 3Com’s Palm - the best-selling line of handheld computers. Palm rivals use Microsoft’s Windows CE operating system.
Retail Trends - after losing more than $100 million, electronics retailer Circuit City abandoned its costly venture into single-use DVD’s that was once regarded as a threat by the video industry. The format - Divx, or digital video express, the format was introduced nine months ago as an alternative to renting videocassettes.

Passing - actor Deforest Kelley (79) best known as Dr Leonard “Bones” McCoy in Star Trek. Carolyn, his wife of 55 years, who was recuperating from a broken leg and was by his side when he died.
Director Oliver Stone is arrested for investigation of driving under the influence and possession of hashish in Beverly Hills. He is released after posting $12,500 bail.
Next Saturday, “Saturday Night Live” will air “The Best of Mike Myers,” a compilation of sketches featuring the “Austin Powers” star from 1989 to 1995.

Florence Henderson (former Brady Bunch mom), NBC anchor Jodi Applegate and Asha Gate are set to cohost “Later Today” a new NBC News show set to debut in the fall following the “Today’ show.
In preparation for the network’s new fall schedule, CBS is moving “60 Minutes II” to Tuesdays at 9pm east/west beginning June 22.
Nickelodeon is getting ready to kick-off “All That” Music & More Festival. The 40-city tour kick’s off this week in Indianapolis. Look for Monica, B’Witched, Tatyana, Ali, 3rd Storee, No Authority and Aaron Carter, as well as cast members from Nickelodeon’s “All That” comedy and music show.
Take a look at Comedy Central Now! - It has a hit with “South Park” and “Absolutely Fabulous” and the channel is launching new shows this summer. Ricky Martin, Will Smith, Britney Spears, 98 Degrees, Blondie, UB40, Shaggy, MC Hammer, Fabrice Morvan, Nancy Sinatra all perform at “Wango Tango” at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles this week. The concert is produced by KIIS-FM.
Ricky Martin performs outside the “Today” show studios for a live broadcast on the show. Screams and cheers ricocheted around the buildings surrounding the plaza and into adjoining streets when Martin entered the outdoor stage.
