Final Presidential debate – Bob Dole opens the debate on President Clinton’s ethics and integrity and that the public sees “scandals almost on a daily basis. They see ethical problems in the White House today.” Clinton reminded the audience of republican efforts to cut popular government programs and of the economic progress made during his tenure.
Russian President Boris Yelstin strips Alexander I Lebed of the job of security chief. Yelstin said his aim was to end infighting over the presidential succession at fever pitch since he announced last month that he will undergo heart bypass surgery soon.
In his weekly radio address, President Clinton says he believes the federal government should ensure that anyone younger than 18 pass a drug test before receiving a driver’s license. “I believe we should use the privilege of a driver’s license to demand responsible behavior by young people when it comes to drugs.”

Tiger Woods, who just turned professional some eight weeks ago, wins his second tournament in three weeks at the Disney Classic in Lake Buena Vista.

Apple surprises analysts with a $25 million profit during the last quarter. Some believe the company is finally turning the corner, but others believe it’ll be in the red again. Improved manufacturing efficiencies, lower component costs and reduced operating expenses were cited.

The E! Channel will air “The Selena Murder Trial: The E! True Hollywood Story,” a two-hour docudrama based on court transcripts from the trial of Yolanda Saldivar. She’s the fan club president who was convicted in the singer’s shooting death.
Robert Urich will be hosting “Boatworks” on PBS. The 13-part series explores life on the water. Urich’s recent series “The Lazarus Man” was canceled after he announced he was undergoing treatment for a rare form of cancer.
Merv Griffin (71) is being treated for prostate cancer, but doctors expect a full recovery.

Chuck D of Public Enemy debuts his first solo album – “No.” The first single – “Autobiography of Mistachuck.”
The artist formerly known as “Prince” ends his bitter contractual battle with Warner Brothers Records. He has signed a deal with EMI to distribute product for his own NPG Records. First project – a 3CD set called “Emancipation.” “Prince” can be seen these days with the world “slave” on his cheek.
Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee is hit with a misdemeanor battery charge, after he allegedly hit a TV cameraman, as he and wife Pamela Anderson were leaving a West-Coast club.
