President Clinton offers to send up to 20,000 U.S. ground troops to help evacuate the U.N. peacekeeping force in Bosnia-Herzegovina if the allies decide to withdraw in the face of increased harassment.

President Clinton signed legislation authorizing U.S. participation in a tariff-slashing world trade agreement, which passed Congress by lopsided margins in a rare lame-duck session.

 President Clinton fires Surgeon General Joycelyn Elders for telling an AIDS forum that she believes masturbation “perhaps should be taught” to schoolchildren.

Response to U.S. - Yasser Arafat – leader of the Palestinians promises that his self rule government will do al it can to stop terrorism against Israelis.

Howard Stern contacted by a man with a cellular phone who wanted to jump off the George Washington Bridge – kept him laughing. Police said Emillio Bonilla walked to the middle of the bridge – climbed over a railing and called Stern.  “I mentioned the fact I had a movie coming out if he would die,” said Stern – ever the self promoter.
