Soviet President Mikhail S. Gorbachev’s efforts to bind the remnants of the Soviet Union fails – as seven republics fail to sign a new union treaty and five others were no shows.

The Bush Administration calls on Lebanon, Jordan, Israel and Syria and the Palestinians to resume the Middle East peace talks early December.

It’s said the Bush Administration is struggling ways to prevent crumbling Russia from sliding into violence and chaos. 

Levi Strauss & Co. which made its name with blue jeans, hopes to see green with brown denims made from naturally colored cotton that needs no dye and deepens in hue instead of fading.  Look for a limited number of “coyote brown” men’s jeans in time for Christmas.

The American flog is lowered for the final time at Clark Air Force Base – after 89 years. The U.S. formally turns over its oldest overseas base to the Philippines.

 

Technology news – November 22, 1991

No more CFC’s - Intel becomes the first to eliminate chlorofluorocarbons from its computer manufacturing lines.

IBM says it is cutting 20,000 jobs in a restructuring

 

Music news – November 22, 1991

The late Jimi Hendrix gets a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Hendrix’ dad – Al and brother Leon came down from Seattle. “It’s been a long time coming,” said his father.

Passing  - Queen’s Freddie Mercury, who acknowledged he had AIDS earlier this week – dies. He was 45. He’s the first major rock star to acknowledge having AIDS.

Passing – Eric Carr – drummer for Kiss... of cancer. He was 41. Carr replaced drummer Peter Criss and recorded eight albums with the band.

Elton John is interviewed on PBS this week. He admitted he was “emotionally dead” as a result of drinking and drugs which he used to fight shyness and to cope with fame.

Marry – Cyndi Lauper to actor David Thornton. Little Richard performed the ceremony in Manhattan.

Rap – Ice Cube’s new “Death Certificate” album is under attack as racist and hatemongering.

This Wednesday on ABC-TV – MTV 10th Anniversary Special wit original performances by – Michael Jackson, Madonna, George Michael and Aerosmith.

Michael Jackson’s “Dangerous” album goes on sale. There’s a statue of Jackson at the Tower Records store in Hollywood. Gotta love it!
