January Through June -  The dual-deck VCR – will finally become available to consumers on March 28. Home cassette copying is here! … Steven Jobs who heads 4 ½-year-old Next Computers says the company has entered into a licensing agreement covering all patents held by both Next and IBM…IBM says it will produce a 16 megabyte memory chip - four times the capacity of today’s most advanced chips. The company says it would be at least 18 to 24 months before this new generation of  (DRAM) dynamic random access memory chips, would be included in its computers… Sony Corp said that it would begin marketing in April a computer that it calls a “palmtop” that can recognize more than 3,500 handwritten characters… Passing - An Wang - who founded Wang Laboratories in 1951… Sony is set to release the first digital recording of “Star Wars” tracks this fall. It was produced at George Lucas’ Skywalker Ranch in Northern California. MCI says it will buy Telecom USA for $1.25 billion. Uses the Intel 80286 microprocessor with a clock speed of 10mhz… Sony introduces portable and car DAT (Digital Audio Tape) machines to boost consumer interest. The Sony DAT Walkman sells for $850.00… Next Computers, which is headed by Steve Jobs, shows-off new products. The company now has a color machine and a new high-end system that can incorporate a high-performance graphics and video processor. Its lowest-priced PC is now $4,500 down from around $6,000...  Sony unveils a wide-screen HDTV it will put on the market beginning next month. Sony says it is the first on the market with the product a 36-inch TV with a 16:9 aspect radio. So far HJK Japan has begun daily one-hour HDTV broadcasts this year… Bill Gates, Microsoft Corp Chairman gives the keynote address  at the huge Comdex trade show in Las Vegas.
