Disney recently turned down offers to show several of its films on cable. One company (Qube), operating a tv system in Columbus offered $10 to $15 thousand per film. Disney turned them down after hearing that several Qube subs had videotape recorders… It's a superstation - thanks to owner Ted Turner - his local Atlanta TV station - WTCG can be seen in homes across the U.S. A few years ago, Ted had the forsight to put the station on satellite - so cable-TV outlets could make it available. It's now billed as, "Super Satellite 17" because - it's really channel 17, a UHF station. Atlanta viewers don't need cable. All they have to do is dial channel 17 on UHF. The viewer can call up stock market reports, supermarket specials and even a program guide - and lots more. The viewer needs a keypad and decoder on the TV set. The system now needs FCC approval…

April - The FCC curbs cable TV rules. One rule limits generally to two - the number of out-of-town TV stations signals urban cable systems may import from distance areas. Intel says that at present, the microprocessor has been used as one of the components in a computer. “We may be able to put the computer itself into one or two chips within the next 10 years.” Intel had sales of almost $400 million last year.
